The P5000S is a 2-space, rack mountable power amplifier that produces 500 watts per channel from 20Hz to 20kHz. (525W @ 1 kHz) into an 8-ohm load. It will provide 700 watts per channel from 20Hz to 20kHz. (750W @ 1 kHz) into a 4-ohm load. These ratings are “both channels driven”. It is extremely clean with a total harmonic distortion and noise rating of ≤ 0.1%. A unique YSProcessing circuit provides optimum performance when used with the Yamaha Club series loudspeakers. The P5000S also uses Yamaha’s patented EEEngine circuitry to reduce power consumption and heat. Input connectors are both XLR and 1/4” balanced. There are switchable high or low pass filters for both input channels, with continuously variable from 25Hz-150Hz. Outputs are Speakonâ, high current ¼" or 5-way binding posts. The P5000S weighs 25 lbs. Covered by a 3-year warranty; the P5000S is underwriters laboratory (UL). listed.
The EMX512SC is a powered mixer with 12 inputs, built-in digital reverb and dual 500-watt digital power amplifiers. It is housed in a sturdy, plastic cabinet that tilts back for easy access. The mixer section is a 12-input stereo mixer that has an effects send, a monitor send, and 3-band EQ. FCL (Feedback channel location) helps pinpoint the offending channel when feedback occurs. The first four channels of the EMX512SC have single knob compression to allow better control of vocals, punching up a bass guitar, or bringing out a quiet bass guitar or kick drum. The effect send is routed to the built-in DSP that provides high quality reverb effects based on the popular SPX processor series. The amplifier section uses Yamaha’s proprietary EEEngine technology for efficiency and cool operation. I expected more, but hardly at all flexion umph. : (Oh well.Hard to believe that only the two front speakers and amp cost almost 5k at that time were the two rear speakers in my room, and a Japanese company called Kinoko they do not vibrate, but then again. . video. SOPs My Sony DSC-W5 camera can not pick up vibrations that means. I 2 Bose front speakers are two 6.5 "woofers in them and 2 5x8" 3-way speakers. ±1±: Best Buy Overall, I'm very pleased with the receiver ... it's got a lot of nice features (which others have described nicely so I will not repeat), and if you've ever set up any other HT receiver you will not have any troubles with this one. I bought it to replace a sound bar that just didn't do a good enough job of separating dialog from background music and sounds, and I'm running 5.1 in a 14x19 bedroom. I can now clearly hear the dialog, and having real surround sound is great.
However, I dinged it one star for what I would consider misleading specifications. Perhaps for those who are experts at HT this wouldn't be a problem, but when I read about all of the different inputs and outputs I assumed that I could mix and match ... for example, I wanted to up my old 5-disc DVD player via component and send the video to my TV via HDMI ... but no such luck with this model. IMHO, if, as seems to be the case, I must send component inputs to my TV via a component output, HDMI inputs vis HDMI, etc., then I would expect the specs to reflect that be stating as much, or at least indicate it by grouping them together. The last receiver I bought (an Onkyo, for the living room) a couple years ago has no such limitations, so it never occurred to me that this would be an issue.
But, to be fair, even if I had known the difference I doubt that I would have paid the premium to step up to the model with that capability, but at least I would have been prepared with the correct cables and expectations (I spent a couple of days "troubleshooting" the receiver before I realized that it couldn't do what I wanted because the instructions and even the online help was not clear on the topic). on Sale!
